REPTILES
Reptiles
are a class of vertebrate animals with amniotes fitted with
keratin epidermal scales. They were very abundant in the Mesozoic, time in
which dinosaurs arose.
According to the traditional taxonomy,
reptiles are considered a class, but according to the systematic cladistics,
they are a paraphyletic group, there fore without taxonomic value; instead, the
use of the Sauropsida clade has been preferred because it is monophyletic.
